Pronounced "tah' pa," which means "padded" in Finnish, the Toppa Pomppa is a thick, generously sized, and exceptionally warm winter dog coat for freezing weather conditions or dogs that are cold sensitive. The waterproof shell fabric, thick teddy lining, and added insulation keep the dog warm even in the most arctic conditions. The coat is designed to cover the large and important muscle groups efficiently. This is the warmest coat in the Pomppa collection.
Designed by Pomppa Oy in Finland, this stylish and excellently made dog coat protects the dog's back, neck, abdomen, and rear end without restricting their natural movement. The front slits allow the dog to move his front legs without restriction. The large collar opening allows the dog to move his head freely. The snug-fitting belt holds the coat in place and the curved buckle conforms to the dog's back. The dog can also wag and carry their tail freely due to the tail slit at the back. Reflectors ensure your dog is seen in low-light conditions.
The Toppa Pomppa is the perfect winter coat for cold-sensitive dogs. For dog's with thick fur, we recommend using Toppa Pomppa for calmer walks or for downtime between performances when it's crucial to keep the large muscle groups warm. If your dog has thick fur and is very active outside in the winter, you may want to look at the Perus Pomppa since it doesn't have the added layer of insulation.

How to Measure Your Dog
The size of Pomppa coats correspond directly to the dog's back length in centimeters. However, depending on the dog's proportions, the thickness of the dog's fur, or the intended use of the product, the correct size may be a size larger or smaller than what the back length indicates. If you are uncertain of sizing, please call or email us for assistance.
Note: The sizing for the Toppa Pomppa is different than it is for any of the other Pomppa coats. The back length of the Toppa Pomppa is 2 cm longer than in other similarly sized Pomppa coats. If your dog is between sizes, we recommend choosing the smaller size.
1. Back Length - Be sure that your dog is standing squarely, with head up, and is looking straight ahead. Following the contour of the dog's back closely, measure from the dog's neck at the point where it joins his shoulders to the base of his tail (the point where the tail joins the body).
2. Not used for Toppa Pomppa
3. Chest - The circumference of the chest is measured at the widest point of the dog’s chest.
4. Waist - The circumference of the waist is measured behind the chest from the narrowest point of the dog.

Machine Wash
Close the belt buckle on the coat. The manufacturer also recommends using a washing bag that protects the coat from wear.
Wash with similar colors or other Pomppa coats.
Choose a 86°F (30°C) delicate cycle and a spin speed of no more than 400 rpm.
Use of a mild liquid detergent is recommended because it washes off more easily than powdered soap.
Neutralize any possible odors using vinegar or unscented laundry vinegar with a dosage of 1/2 to 1 tbsp. per coat. The vinegar should be added into the fabric softener compartment.
Do NOT use fabric softener or bleach.
Do NOT tumble dry. Let the coat dry by either hanging it or leaving it on a drying rack.
After each wash, reactivate the coat’s water-repellency.
After a few washes, restore the DWR with waterproofing spray.
Reactivating the Water Repellency
The shell fabric of Pomppa coats is finished with a DWR treatment, which keeps the fabric water-repellent. After each wash, the DWR treatment must be reactivated by heating the product evenly using one the following methods:
Tumble dry at 86°F for 3-5 minutes
Use the low heat setting on a hairdryer for 3-5 minutes from a distance of 8"
Hang in sunlight for 15 minutes (the fabric surface must reach 86°F)
Note: Too much heat can damage the coat’s waterproofness for good, so please follow the instructions carefully.
Re-treating the Water Repellency
The DWR treatment also wears off over time and after multiple washes. The product should be re-treated after water droplets no longer bead on the surface despite of the heat treatment, but they get absorded in the fabric instead. The water-repellency is easily restored using a waterproofing spray-on and following the instructions on the product page.
Note that water-repellency does not affect the fabric's water resistance. If the fabric gets saturated with water, the coat is still waterproof, but only the moisture doesn’t evaporate through the fabric as effectively anymore.
