What is resilience?

A resilient dog is better able to bounce back after being confronted with a stressful situation. They are able to relax in different environments and they are curious in new situations about new dogs and new people, but not fearful. A resilient dog reacts appropriately to things happening in their environment and is happy and playful.

You can unleash your dog's resilience with Leslie McDevitt's Control Unleashed® pattern games. This course includes 8 modules with video and written lessons, infographics, and tutorials to teach more than 25 pattern games and variations of those games in addition to other skills to help companion dogs learn to cope with the human-centered world. Rather than focusing on "fixing" one behavior, the course looks at many aspects of a dog's well-being and focuses on increasing the dog's ability to deal with stressful situations as well as lowering their overall stress level.

What is included with your registration?

  • 8 modules with written lectures and video instruction with 16 weeks to complete them
  • Access to all course materials on both mobile devices and your computer
  • Downloadable content for off-line access when you're out training
  • Ability to ask questions, participate in discussions, and watch all posted videos
  • Keep what you buy—No expiring content; after the course ends, you won't be able to ask questions, but the content is still available to you

What additional items are included with a Premier registration?

  • Ability to post videos of your dog working (2 videos up to 3 minutes in length for each module)
  • Instructor feedback on video assignments

Note: This class is intended for one dog/handler team. If you also wish to post videos of a different dog, you must purchase another registration for the other dog(s).

Prerequisites

None.

Equipment and space needed

  • Minimal equipment is needed. Participants will want to have a treat bag, a mat (or something to use as a mat), ideally a clicker but not required, and some materials to use for enrichment games. Targets will be helpful, but many things can be used as targets, so no special equipment is needed.
  • Very little space is required. All of the games can be practiced in an average-sized room in a home, but eventually you will probably want to practice some games outside in larger spaces.
